To make a long story short, the place we thought that would work to camp was on the other side of a closed pass, so we stopped and asked a forest ranger for suggestions and journeyed in the general direction of his recommendation. Another hour and a half later, we located our perfect campsite!! (Note to the reader: we were not being picky by passing up sites, we literally only found this one spot). Once the site was assembled, we made guac, drank beer and played ladder golf!
The best thing about camping: all you can eat S’Mores J
Second best thing about camping: waking up to the sun shining on your face and realizing it is 5:30am.
I cannot say enough about the group of people that went camping this past weekend! Being in a class of 64, it is easy to get sick of each other, which makes weekend plans somewhat difficult. But this group was perfect and I can honestly say I have never laughed so hard as I did when Preston’s beer brat fell into the fire! As he pulled the dead wood from inside his brat and smashed his now mangled brat back onto a new stick, we all died laughing! Similarly, we laughed pretty hard at all the “that’s what she said jokes” that are not appropriate to be repeated here.
All in all, great camping trip with great friends! We followed up the weekend with a 15 inning Rockies game vs. the Giants (5 and a half hours of baseball) and a somewhat productive day of studying on Monday.
Looking forward to more adventures in the Colorado Rockies this summer!
